Create an AWS key pair

Key pairs

We are setting up a key pair as the next few examples use secure shell (ssh) access to configure the database and web server.

For

  • US East N Virginia we will use the name devopsdba1
  • US East Ohio we will use the name devopsdba2

The AWS documentation for key pairs is located at:

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/ec2-key-pairs.html

and

Creating a Key Pair Using Amazon EC2.

Go to EC2 -> Key Pairs

Select “Create Key Pair” and enter “devopsdba” as the name

Select “Create” and then save the file devopsdba.pem

The devopsdba.pem file will contain a host of random characters e.g.
