Connect to a public EC2 using putty

We will connect to an EC2 instance using putty and the keys generated in the previous post.

Start Putty

Start putty

For the host name enter @

e.g. for centos we could use

centos@ec2-3-16-203-193.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com

and set a name for this session in the “Saved Sessions” area as “AWS-Centos-ohio”

Then expand “Connection -> SSH” in the left hand column and select “Auth”

Enter or browse for the full path and name of the private key generated by Puttygen

Select “session” from the left hand column and select “save” and then “load”

You will then connect to the instance.
